Popular emo band Death Cab for Cutie announced today, along with their Q2 earnings, plans for the definitive “sweet” creepy stalker album. “Many of our albums have gotten muddied with pleasant melodies that recall pleasant memories.” Said singer/songwriter Ben Gibbard. “We felt we were getting away from our true vision.” The album mixes such classic songs as “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” and “I Will Possess Your Heart” with new recordings. The title track “But What About The Universe” takes a quirky spin on the often-heard phrase “not if you were the last guy on earth.” When asked what his wife thought of the new collection, guitarist Chris Walla stated: “Hmm?”
The majority of the band’s fanbase is surprisingly female. “Most of them don’t actually examine the lyrics that closely.” Said Gibbard. “We try to use that to our advantage.” Gibbard was unavailable to comment when asked if he had ever actually talked to a girl.
